Interview transcription — common questions

Can I transcribe a recording made on another device?
Yes. Import any audio or video file and Murmur transcribes it on-device with speakers labeled, exactly like a recording made in the app.
How accurate is the transcript?
Murmur uses a modern on-device speech recognition model with automatic language detection. As with any transcription, verify critical quotes — tap the line to replay just that sentence.
Can I translate a foreign-language interview?
Yes. Transcripts can be translated line by line on-device, and read bilingually next to the original.
Does anything about my interview reach the internet?
No. There is no account and your recordings are never sent to our servers. Optional iCloud sync, if you enable it, uses your own private iCloud account.
